Welcome to Richland Parish Police Jury

Who We Are & What We Do:

Louisiana is unique in the nation, in that it has parishes which are governed in most cases by police juries.

Richland Parish Police Jury is the legislative and executive government of the parish, and is elected by the voters. The Police Jury President presides over the police jury and serves as the titular head of the parish government.

The Richland Parish government exercises over fifty different functions and powers including road and bridge construction, maintenance, drainage, parish prison, health unit, hospital, etc. Richland Parish Police Jury also houses and maintains the Courts and the offices of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Assessor, Clerk of Court, Registrar of Voters, District Attorney, and the Sheriff. Richland Parish promotes economic development, regulates various business activities, and administers numerous
state and federal programs on the parish level.
